Steven Zgambo joined Grant Thornton in 2008. He is an Associate Director in the Assurance team and has over 16 years of experience in the field.
Experience
Steven joined Grant Thornton in 2008 as a Trainee. He was actively involved in several external audit engagements whilst completing his studies. After qualifying as an affiliate of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountant (ACCA) in 2010, Steven has been in charge of external audit assignments as an audit manager in charge of preparation of the audit plan and its tailoring according to every audit needs, monitor progress of the audit team, allocation to audit work among the audit team members and monitoring of its progress and support of the audit team under the conduct of the audit in respect of both – organizational and technical issues.
He is also involved in the in-house training of the recently joined staff and executive trainees with regard to the audit software used by Grant Thornton and various other audit standards and methodology adopted by the firm.
Sector experience
Steven has been involved in external audits assignments for a diverse clientele, involving large manufacturing, construction, trading, non-profitable organisations, parastatals and service industry clients.
Professional qualifications and memberships
Steven has completed the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification and is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). He is also a Fellow Certified Professional member (FCPA) of the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA).
Community involvement
Steven participates in Grant Thornton’s CSR initiatives such as recently supporting Government’s Digital Transformation Strategy within the education sector by sponsoring a state-of-the art imported tech panel – a first for public schools in Botswana. Over the years, Grant Thornton has supported various local communities paying special attention to the upliftment of education in Botswana.
Presentations and publications
Steven has been a member of Grant Thornton’s corporate Toastmasters club, which has facilitated development of communication and leadership skills. He served as the Treasurer of the club in 2020/21.
