Sampath is an Information technology professional with over 30 years of experience in IT. He is a certified professional in various IT areas and he has been associated with Grant Thornton since 2018.

Sampath is a highly qualified and accomplished professional with a diverse academic background and various certifications in Management, Engineering, and Cybersecurity. He started his career on a small note. He worked in India and Qatar before migrating to Botswana, where he joined Botho University as a Network Administrator and was later promoted to Technical Manager. At Grant Thornton, Sampath takes care of IT Strategies and governance, all IT matters, and implementing policies, standards and compliance set by Grant Thornton International Limited.

Sampath has been actively involved in conducting Infrastructure and IT Risk Audits on various platforms. Sampath is also actively involved in the areas of Virtualization in Vmware, Hyper V and other similar platforms such as CITRIX, Information security, to name a few.

Sampath is also involved in conducting compliance audits on Grant Thornton member firms compliance requirements.

Sampath has vast experience in IT Audits and IT Risk handling, leveraging his CISA, MBA and Management qualifications. He has performed IT Audits and risk assessments on various clients in Public Sectors, Information Technology firms, the Educational Sector, the Financial and Banking Services industry and healthcare, in alignment with NIST, ISO27001 and other industry standards and regulations. With a proven track record in conducting IT audits, he has successfully identified and addressed potential vulnerabilities, mitigated risks, and helped clients enhance organisation profiles. His Engineering background in electrical and electronics engineering has aided him in assessing equipment security and data integrity. Sampath has leveraged his CISA certification to review and validate IT controls related to electronic health records in hospital systems.

Sampath also conducts compliance audits on Grant Thornton member firm's compliance requirements.

Sampath has acquired a PhD in Management, Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT) and Certified Ethical Hacking Community (CEH). His memberships include the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), and the Certified Ethical Hacking Community (CEH).

Sampath is adept at operating different software used by clients across different industries. His expertise in NIST, COBIT and ISO/IEC 27001 Information Security, IT Risk Management, and Data Governance frameworks has enabled him to effectively design, implement and manage robust information security programs ensuring compliance. Furthermore, he is proficient in using Statistical and Analytical tools to bring value to different tasks. His speciality is in Virtualised Environments, Microsoft SQL, Oracle, ERP D365 platform, Linux Operating system etc. 

Community involvement

Sampath participates in Grant Thornton’s CSR initiatives, such as recently supporting Government’s Digital Transformation Strategy within the education sector by sponsoring a state-of-the-art imported tech panel – a first for public schools in Botswana. Over the years, Grant Thornton has supported various local communities paying special attention to the upliftment of education in Botswana.
