Experience
Opelo started her Internal Auditing career in 2015 as a trainee at KPMG Botswana with focus on providing internal audit services to various companies across different industries. She then joined Hemamo Investments in 2019, serving as an Internal Auditor within the company. Her experience includes conducting internal audits, investigative assignments including business fraud detection and management.
Opelo is currently responsible for planning, execution and reporting on allocated assignments, mainly in internal audit. She assists with supervision of junior staff, provides recommendations to clients that address weaknesses in their processes, and reports results to the Exco and the Finance and Audit Committee

Opelo has experience of providing internal audit services to companies in a variety of sectors such as financial services, retail, real estate, government and parastatals health sectors.
Professional qualifications and memberships
Opelo holds a BA (Hons) Business Enterprise from the University of Derby. She is a registered member with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Botswana and is a Certified Internal and External Reviewer with the Institute of Internal Auditors. Opelo has also completed the Data Analytics and Literacy certificate program from the Institute of Internal Auditors.
Technological proficiency
Opelo has extensive experience operating various software to execute internal audit methodology, such as IDEA (data analysis), Process flow / mapping tools to monitor different processes and Teammate (audit workflow). Furthermore, she is proficient in using Microsoft office tools to bring quality to different assignments.
Community Involvement
Opelo participates in Grant Thornton’s CSR initiatives such as recently supporting Government’s Digital Transformation Strategy within the education sector by sponsoring a state-of-the art imported tech panel – a first for public schools in Botswana. Over the years, Grant Thornton has supported various local communities paying special attention to the upliftment of education in Botswana
