Olivia Muzvidziwa joined Grant Thornton in 2022. She is a Director and Head of Taxation and has over 41 years of work experience.
Experience
Olivia has worked in various tax leadership roles in Zimbabwe and Botswana. She has worked for the Zimbabwe tax authority in various roles including assessing, investigations and registrar of the special tax courts. She has also worked for professional services firms (Deloitte and KPMG) providing tax compliance and consulting services. At KPMG, in her role as Head of Tax she managed a portfolio of multinational and local tax clients and led the tax team on various consulting and compliance projects.
Olivia has in-depth knowledge of Botswana tax legislation including Income Tax (corporate tax, transfer pricing, personal tax, capital gains tax, transfer pricing and withholding taxes), VAT, Capital Transfer Tax and International Tax. She has provided holistic project specific tax advice and compliance services to large multi-national and local investors as well as advice on tax implications of holding structures, financing models, investment vehicle options, cross-border transactions etc. and available tax incentives. She also has experience in providing tax due diligence, tax health-check and transfer pricing services.

Olivia’s sector experience includes manufacturing, mining, construction, energy, retail, ICT, financial services, hospitality and farming.
Professional qualifications and memberships
Olivia is an Associate member of the Institute of Certified Tax Accountants (Zimbabwe). She also holds an Advanced Diploma in International Taxation, Advanced Diploma in Transfer Pricing and Post-graduate Diploma in Applied Taxation
Technological Proficiency
Olivia has extensive experience operating the BURS online platform for assorted tax compliance and filing purposes, and is proficient in using Microsoft Office applications, notably Microsoft Excel for Tax computations.
Community Involvement
Olivia participates in Grant Thornton’s CSR initiatives such as recently supporting Government’s Digital Transformation Strategy within the education sector by sponsoring a state-of-the art imported tech panel – a first for public schools in Botswana. Over the years, Grant Thornton has supported various local communities paying special attention to the upliftment of education in Botswana.
