Mompati Olebetse joined Grant Thornton in 2021 as a Senior Associate. He is an Assistant Manager in the Taxation team and has over 10 years of work experience.
Experience
Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Mompati had worked with KPMG from 2014 to 2016 as a Tax Advisor charged with tax compliance, tax advises, due diligence, tax health checks, income tax and VAT computations. He then joined Choppies Group of company as a Senior Tax accountant in 2017, where he was overseeing VAT preparation and submission, control account recon for monthly management accounts, withholding tax monthly preparations, COGS allocation for service departments, and payments processing. This also included preparation of the group draft transfer pricing policy, amalgamation, capital allowances and coordinating BURS audit and queries.

Mompati is experienced in tax amnesty, and tax audit. He also has vast experience in amalgamation and deregistration of clients across different industries.
Professional qualifications and memberships
Mompati holds a BA (Hons) Degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Derby. He is currently studying to complete the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualification. He is an Accounting Technician member of the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA).
Technological proficiency
Mompati has experience operating the BURS online platform for assorted tax compliance and filing purposes, and is proficient in using Microsoft Office applications, notably Microsoft Excel for Tax computations.
Community involvement
Mompati participates in Grant Thornton’s CSR initiatives such as recently supporting Government’s Digital Transformation Strategy within the education sector by sponsoring a state-of-the art imported tech panel – a first for public schools in Botswana. Over the years, Grant Thornton has supported various local communities paying special attention to the upliftment of education in Botswana.
