Dineo Rowland

Dineo Rowland joined Grant Thornton in 2024. She is an Assistant Manager in the Marketing, Communications and Business Development team and has over 15 years of experience

Experience

Dineo began her career as a Temporary Full-Time Communications Lecturer at Gaborone Technical College (GTC) from 2006 to 2007. She subsequently secured a permanent position as an English Teacher at Itekeng Secondary School from 2007 to 2008. In 2009, she returned to GTC on permanent basis as a Communications Skills Lecturer, where she taught courses in media studies, communication theory, digital communication, and public relations, while also supervising student assessments.

During her tenure, Dineo designed and updated course curricula to reflect advancements in communication technologies, conducted research on digital media trends, media ethics, and audience analysis, and collaborated with colleagues to improve teaching methodologies and research output. She served in this role until 2015. In January 2016. Dineo joined Botswana Fibre Networks (BoFiNet) as a Public Relations Officer where she developed and implemented comprehensive PR strategies to enhance the company’s image and media presence. She cultivated relationships with media outlets, crafted press materials, and managed corporate publications, including newsletters and the Annual Report.  Dineo oversaw social media platforms, organised press events, monitored media coverage, and analysed PR campaign performance to optimize strategies. She also handled crisis communication, drafting responses and managing the company’s reputation during challenging situations. 

Dineo was promoted to Senior Public Relations, Marketing & Communications Officer in September 2019, a role she held until 2024. In this role, Dineo showcased exceptional leadership and strategic acumen. During her tenure, she also served as Acting PRMC Manager for over a year, effectively managing high-level communications and marketing functions that were pivotal to BoFiNet’s success. 

Her role at Grant Thornton involves spearheading client-focused initiatives, managing publications, presentations, and communications across both digital and print platforms. Her responsibilities include overseeing digital media strategies, executing events, and tracking business development to enhance client engagement. Additionally, she leads a team dedicated to identifying new opportunities across the firm’s services, ensuring the timely delivery of projects, and supports other to achieve business goals while maintaining a professional brand image.

Dineo specialises in brand visibility, implementing marketing strategies that contributes to business growth. She has experience managing both digital and traditional marketing efforts, overseeing internal and external communications, supporting business development initiatives, and coordinating corporate events for clients in various sectors. She has a strong background in marketing, public relations, and stakeholder engagement, combined with excellent project management and communication skills

Professional qualifications and memberships

Dineo holds a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) both from the University of Botswana. She also holds an Associate Diploma in Banking from Botswana Institute of Bankers (AIOB), a Certificate in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) from CSR International Company and a Certificate of Proficiency (COP) from Botswana Accountancy College (BAC).

She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of East London.

Technological proficiency

Dineo is experienced in using digital tools and platforms that support marketing, communications and public relations. She is skilled in managing social media accounts, website sand email marketing to increase brand awareness. Dineo can create presentations, writing articles/ publications and marketing materials using other content creation software like Canva. She also uses tools like Google Analytics, mail chimp and sprout social to measure campaign performance and improve results.  Additionally, she is proficient in Microsoft Office applications, using them to prepare presentations and maintain high quality standards across tasks.

Community involvement

Dineo participates in Grant Thornton’s CSR initiatives such as recently supporting Government’s Digital Transformation Strategy within the education sector by sponsoring a state-of-the art imported tech panel. Over the years, Grant Thornton has supported various local communities paying special attention to the upliftment of education in Botswana. 

In her personal capacity, she supported and organised prize-giving donations, refurbishment of schools by providing connectivity and gadgets, and has supported the care and maintenance of over 30 children for more than six (6) years.
